Best Acai Bowl in Kona

If you're clamoring for this popular, immune function boosting, nutritious snack, fear not: Kona's got you covered.

The internet tells me that according to a recent survey by Yelp, acai bowls are the “6th most popular food trend in the USA.” If you’re clamoring for this popular, immune function boosting, nutritious snack (and I’ll add it’s an especially good morning choice in the Hawaiian heat), Kona’s got you covered.

There are plenty of places offering delicious acai bowls, but my two favorites are a short walk from the Pau Hana and Pono Condos.

The first, Basik Acai, looks like a cute treehouse. It’s located above Snorkel Bob’s on the Royal Kona end of Ali’i near Huggos and On the Rocks.

There’s often a line and limited seating, but the bowls are super tasty. Cold brew is also available. Note that Basik Acai is closed for business on Sundays.

I recommend taking your tasty treat to go, grab some lava rock (sitting on the seawall is always a good bet), and enjoying while looking out over the ocean.

My other favorite is on the opposite end of Ali’i: Kona Wave Cafe. It’s a cute, modest place that, much like Basik Acai, offers acai bowls and cold brew.
