Formerly the Ocean View Inn, the Fish Hopper sits right in the middle of walkable downtown Kailua Kona, located on Ali’i Drive. Since 1934, the restaurant has provided tourists and locals with fresh, sustainable seafood and spectacular views of the serene Kona sunset and Pacific Ocean (Kailua Bay).

A delicious fish and shrimp dinner at The Fish Hopper
Happy hour (pau hana, in Hawaii) at the Fish Hopper is only available at the bar. The happy hour menu features $6.50 frosty schooners and mai tais.

You can’t beat frosty schooners

The Menu at the Fish Hopper

The interior decor
The Fish Hopper’s dinner menu is one of the best in Kona. There are lots of delicious options, but you can’t go wrong with my favorite: the mahi mahi (pictured below).

My entreé of choice: Fresh local mahi mahi crusted with macadamia nuts, sauteed local organic vegetables, sweet Molokai mashed potatoes, mango-papaya salsa, and citrus cream sauce
